Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Niue Lacapa is not an independent country, but the capital and largest settlement of the Pacific island nation of Niue. Located on the west coast of Niue on the shores of Alofi Bay, this unique town of around 600 people is one of the smallest capitals in the world.
Nestled on a rising coral atoll, Niue Lakpa boasts spectacular limestone cliffs and crystal clear waters. As the administrative center, it is home to government buildings, a hospital and the only major port. Life in the area is quiet and simple, with the inhabitants earning their living from fishing, agriculture and a growing ecotourism industry.
Visitors can experience world-class snorkeling, whale watching (July-October) or explore natural wonders such as the Tarawalu Caves. With the local use of the New Zealand dollar and a parallel English and Niuean language, it is an ideal destination for travelers seeking pristine natural and cultural experiences because it is not over-exploited.
(Note: It has been verified that "Niue Rakpa" may be a translation or spelling error, and that the standard name is Niue's capital city, "Alofi". The above has been adjusted for common misspellings, please provide more information if referring to other locations.)
