Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
La Margineda, Andorra is not a country but a town in the Principality of Andorra, located in the south-west of the capital city of Andorra and belonging to the parish of Santa Julia de Loria. Nestled in the Pyrenees at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, it is known for its historical sites and natural beauty. La Margineda's most famous attraction is the medieval Pont de la Margineda, a Romanesque stone bridge built in the 14th-15th centuries over the River Valira, one of the best preserved ancient bridges in Andorra and classified as a cultural heritage site.
The surroundings of the town are beautiful for outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing, and it is close to Andorra's Glen Valira ski resort. The economy is dominated by tourism and benefits from Andorra's low tax policy, which attracts business investment. It is easily accessible by public transportation, being close to the main CG-1 road, which connects the city of Andorra with the Spanish border. Sparsely populated, with a population of around a few hundred people, La Magineda embodies Andorra's tranquil mountain life and is an ideal stopover for exploring the country's history and nature.
