Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Gao Yao District is part of Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, China, located in the western part of the Pearl River Delta and the middle and lower reaches of the Xijiang River, and is an important part of the central city of Zhaoqing. The area has a long history, founded in the sixth year of Yuan Ding of the Western Han Dynasty (111 B.C.), with a history of more than 2,000 years of establishment and a deep cultural heritage. Gaoyao is strategically located with convenient transportation, adjacent to economically developed cities such as Foshan and Jiangmen, and is an important node area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Economically, Gaoyao has manufacturing, agriculture and tourism as its pillar industries, and is rich in rice, fruits and aquatic products, as well as a cluster of specialty industries such as Jinli Hardware and Baitu Ceramics. The area is rich in natural landscapes and cultural relics, such as Antelope Gorge, Songlong Town and Lichuan Ancient Village, which attract many tourists. With a population of around 800,000, Gao Yao is dominated by the Guangfu culture, the language is Cantonese, and folk activities such as dragon boat races and lion dances are unique.
Overall, Gao Yao is a livable and business-friendly city that blends historical tradition with modern development, and is playing an increasingly important role in the construction of the Greater Bay Area.
