Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Located in the Guanacaste province of northwestern Costa Rica, Diria National Park is an important ecological reserve that connects the northern and southern biological corridors of the American continent. Established in 1991, the park covers an area of approximately 170 square kilometers and features a variety of ecosystems, including tropical dry forests, cloud forests and transitional forests.
As a key node in the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, Diria National Park is home to more than 250 species of birds, including the rare crested green biting cuckoo and macaw. The park is also home to mammals such as jaguars, leopard cats, and white-tailed deer, as well as an abundance of amphibious reptiles. Its botanical diversity is particularly impressive, with over 700 species of vascular plants recorded.
Several hiking trails are spread throughout the park, allowing visitors to view volcanic landscapes, waterfalls, and pristine forests. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from December to April, when wildlife activity is high. Diria National Park, near the Rio Celeste Volcano, is known for its blue-colored rivers and hot springs, and is an important destination for eco-tourism in Costa Rica.
