Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Al Khor is a coastal city in northeastern Qatar, located about 50 kilometers north of the capital city of Doha, and is part of the Al Khor Municipality administrative district. The city has a long history and is traditionally known for its pearl-gathering and fishing industries, and was once one of the major economic centers of Qatar. Haor has a tranquil natural environment, bordering the Arabian Gulf and surrounded by mangrove forests and sandy beaches, making it a popular spot for birdwatching and recreational fishing.
The city has a population of around 30,000, with a predominantly native Qatari population and a traditional community atmosphere. Howe Harbor is an important industrial base for Qatar, supporting the energy and shipping industries. In recent years, as Qatar's economy has grown, Howl's infrastructure has been gradually improved, but it still retains a strong cultural identity, such as the Howl Museum, which showcases local history and handicrafts.
The climate in Howl is hot and dry, with high temperatures of over 40°C in the summer and mild winters. The city is well connected to Doha by highway, making it easily accessible. As one of the host cities for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Al Bayt Stadium has attracted global attention with its unique marquee design, further raising its international profile.
