Sapouy is a town in the region of Boucle du Mouhoun in west-central Burkina Faso, about 120 kilometers southwest of the capital city of Ouagadougou, and is the economic and trade center of the region. Agriculture is the dominant industry in the region, with cotton, millet and peanuts being the main crops grown, while traditional handicrafts and animal husbandry also play a part. Sapui has an active bazaar and is an important hub for the trade of agricultural products from the surrounding area, while retaining traditional West African cultural features such as tribal dancing and handicraft making. Despite the relatively simple infrastructure, the local population is warm and welcoming, and the city's atmosphere, with its blend of traditional and modern development, is one of the windows into rural life in the interior of Burkina Faso.
