São Filipe (Portuguese: São Filipe) is an important city in the West African island nation of Cape Verde, located in the southwestern part of the country's largest island, Santiago. As the capital of São Filipe, the city is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage, unique colonial architecture and stunning natural beauty.
São Filippo has a long history and its old town retains a great deal of brightly colored Portuguese colonial architecture, especially sobrado style houses with fine wooden balconies. The city's main landmarks include St. Philip's Church and the Town Square, which have seen Cape Verde's history change from colonial times to independence.
The city is situated on the coast with beautiful black sand beaches and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. The surrounding area is dominated by agriculture, especially coffee and sugar cane cultivation. St. Philip's is also an ideal base for exploring the natural beauty of Santiago Island, where visitors can visit the nearby volcanic landscape and traditional villages to experience the unique Creole culture.
As the regional economic center, San Felipe's economy is primarily based on agriculture, fishing and tourism. The city maintains a laid-back Mediterranean lifestyle and the local cuisine is a blend of African and Portuguese flavors, with fresh seafood dishes being a particular favorite.
Gaotai County is located in the central part of the Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province, China, under Zhangye City, in the middle reaches of the Black River oasis. Gaotai has an arid continental climate with four distinct seasons, and agriculture is dominated by corn, wheat and melons.
Gaotai County is home to the Memorial Hall of the West Road Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, which has deep red tourism value.
