Sanmenxia is located in the western part of Henan Province, China, at the junction of Henan, Jin and Shaanxi provinces, and is an important city in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. Sanmenxia is named after the three gorges in the Yellow River, namely the "Man's Gate, the God's Gate and the Ghost's Gate", and is known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River".
The city has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. The world-famous Yangshao Culture Site is located here, witnessing China's 5,000 years of civilization.
