Vawkavysk is a historic city in the Grodno Region of Belarus, located in the western part of the country near the Polish border, and is one of the most important transportation nodes connecting Belarus with Western Europe. First documented in 1005, the city has a thousand-year history and is a blend of Eastern and Central European cultures, with 19th-century architecture and Orthodox churches still preserved in the old town. As a regional economic center, the city has a strong focus on machine building, food processing and agriculture, and is surrounded by beautiful nature, with the Neman River flowing through the outskirts of the city, adding to the city's dynamic natural atmosphere.
