Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. A blend of traditional Timacu culture and modern townscape, Samu offers a unique look at the interior of Timor-Leste.
Located in the Osh region of southwestern Kyrgyzstan, Uzgen is one of the oldest cities in Kyrgyzstan, with a history dating back to the 2nd century BC. As an important hub of the Silk Road, it was once a major center of the Karakhan dynasty and retains a rich cultural heritage. The city is famous for the ancient architectural complex of Uzgen, including three 11th-century brick mausoleums and a minaret, the remains of which are a blend of Persian and Islamic architectural styles and are on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The local economy is predominantly agricultural, with an abundance of fruits and nuts, and traditional handicrafts such as carpet weaving are also featured. With a population of about 60,000 and a multicultural mix, Uzgen is an important destination for the study of Central Asian history and religion.
