Rurenzi is a municipality in the Razgrad Region of northeastern Bulgaria, located in the southern part of the Danube Plain, about 25 kilometers from the capital city of Razgrad. As a typical Bulgarian rural town, Rurenzi has a predominantly agrarian economy, with the surrounding area producing cereals, sunflowers and other crops, while retaining traditional livestock farming.
The region has deep remnants of the Thracian civilization, with tomb artifacts from the 4th century BC having been unearthed. Architectural styles from the Ottoman period mingle with wooden dwellings from the Bulgarian National Revival to form a unique cultural landscape. Annual folk festivals, such as traditional dances and handicraft fairs, vividly demonstrate Bulgaria's northern folklore.

The neighboring Kamchia River Biosphere Reserve offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching. The 19th century church of St. George is preserved in the center of the town, while the ruins of the old Roman road on the outskirts of the town attract history buffs.
