Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. Mayoa is the capital of the province of Palena in the Los Lagos region of southern Chile, located on the east coast of the main island of the Chiloé Archipelago, facing the Gulf of Corcovado. The city is an important gateway to the Patagonia region of southern Chile and is surrounded by temperate rainforest and volcanic landscapes.
Mayoa is located in a temperate maritime climate zone at 42°S, with abundant annual rainfall and dense vegetation. The city is surrounded by natural landscapes such as the Honopilon Volcano and the famous Corcovado National Park nearby, with its unique biodiversity and primary forest resources.
As an agricultural and fishing center, Mayoa's economy is dominated by salmon farming, forestry and tourism. The region retains strong Chiloé cultural traditions and is known for its timber-framed churches and palafito (water stilt houses) architecture. The Mayoa Music Festival, held every February, is an important cultural event in southern Chile.
