Located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) and bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Epena is one of the most important towns in the province of Littoral. Located near the mouth of the Black River (Nyali River), it has a hot and humid climate, tropical rainforests and coastal plains, and a diverse ecological environment.
