Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. A blend of traditional Timacu culture and modern townscape, Samu offers a unique look at the interior of Timor-Leste.
Arsuk is a small settlement in the municipality of Avannaata in western Greenland, located along the Brasølfjorden, about 150 kilometers from the capital city of Nuuk. With its roots in Inuit culture and a population of around 500, the town relies heavily on fishing and marine resources for its livelihood, with traditional fishing and hunting still an important part of community life. The polar climate has shaped its unique natural landscape, with short, cool summers and long, cold winters, and the surrounding fjords, glaciers, and wildlife (e.g., whales, seals) provide potential resources for ecotourism. Though small in size, Alsuk retains the community spirit of Greenland's original inhabitants and serves as a window to experience polar life and the beauty of nature.
