Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. Aketau County is located in the southwestern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, belonging to Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture, and is situated at the eastern foot of the Pamir Plateau and the western edge of the Tarim Basin. With a total area of 24,700 square kilometers and an average altitude of about 3,000 meters, the county has a typical temperate continental arid climate. As an important corridor of the ancient Silk Road, Aketau has natural landscapes such as Oytak Glacier Park and Moustagh Peak, as well as rich Kyrgyz folk culture. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and in recent years it has vigorously developed tourism and border trade, making it one of the important gateways connecting China to Central Asia.
