Samawah is the capital of Misan Province in southern Iraq, located along the Euphrates River, about 280 kilometers from the capital city of Baghdad. As an ancient city with a long history, it is a blend of Mesopotamian civilization and Islamic cultural heritage, and was once one of the important regions of the ancient Sumerian civilization. The city's economy is based on agriculture, producing crops such as dates and wheat, and in recent years the oil industry has also grown.
