Located on the southeastern tip of the island of Grande-Terre, east of the French overseas department of Guadeloupe, Saint-François is a renowned Caribbean destination. Known for its pristine white sand beaches, azure lagoons and world-class golf courses, this beach town attracts European and North American tourists year-round.
St. François boasts long stretches of protected coral reefs for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts to explore the underwater world. The iconic Plage de Saint-François offers water sports such as sailing and kite surfing. The Bain des Amoureux, a natural swimming pool in the eastern part of the city, is surrounded by volcanic rock and is a unique natural feature. The Salines de Saint-François, Guadeloupe's largest salt flats, are also nearby, where flocks of flamingos can be viewed.
As a French territory, Saint-François blends Creole culture with French flair, with local restaurants featuring seafood and Creole cuisine. The city has one of Guadeloupe's main cruise ship terminals and is conveniently located near Pôle Caraïbes Airport. Its international popularity is further enhanced by the annual regatta and music festival.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
