Located on the Atlantic coast of western Guinea-Bissau, Safim is one of the country's major port towns and is strategically located near the capital city of Bissau. The local economy is dominated by fishing and agriculture, with an abundance of seafood and tropical crops such as cashews and peanuts, making it a regional trade hub. Culturally, it is a blend of African traditions and Portuguese colonial influences, retaining unique folk festivals and architectural styles.
