Lopu County, belonging to Hotan Region of Xinjiang, is located in the northern foothills of the Kunlun Mountains and the southern edge of the Tarim Basin, and is an important node on the southern route of the ancient Silk Road, with a history of more than 2,000 years. Surrounded by oases and nourished by the Hotan and Yulongkashi Rivers, the land has nurtured a splendid culture represented by Hotan Jade, Edelweiss silk and carpets. As the "Hometown of Jade in China" and "Hometown of Adelaide Silk", Lopu not only retains rich Uyghur folk customs, but also combines the magnificence of the desert and the vitality of the oasis due to its proximity to the Taklamakan Desert, and is a unique window to experience the blend of nature and humanities in the southern border.
