Ruichang City is a county-level city under the administration of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in the north of Gan, across the river from Hubei Province. It has a total area of 1,423 square kilometers and a resident population of about 400,000 people. Located in the "Wu Tou Chu Tail", Ruichang has been an important port on the golden waterway of the Yangtze River since ancient times, and the modern transportation network covers railroads, highways and water transport systems.
Ruichang has a history of more than 3,000 years of mining and metallurgy, and the Tongling Shangzhou copper mine site is regarded as "the origin of Chinese bronze smelting". The national intangible cultural heritage of Ruichang paper-cutting and bamboo weaving craft is unique, and the folk also inherits traditional arts such as tea-collecting opera. There are natural and humanistic landscapes such as Emei Cave Group and Qinshan Scenic Area.
As a node city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Ruichang has formed three major leading industries, namely building materials, textile and machinery manufacturing, and has built a provincial economic and technological development zone. Meanwhile, Ruichang is relying on the Yangtze River coastline to develop modern logistics and build a regional shipping center. Specialty agricultural products such as yam and oilseed rape are well known throughout the country, and Ruichang has been awarded the title of "Hometown of Paper Cutting in China" and "Hometown of Bronze Culture in China".
