Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Located in the southwestern part of Yilan County, Taiwan Province of China, the township is situated in the transition zone between the Lanyang Plain and the Central Mountain Range, with the terrain dominated by plains and hills, and the climate is mild and humid, which makes the township known as the "Breadbasket of Yilan". The area has a well-developed agricultural industry, producing high-quality rice, tea, citrus, and other agricultural products, and the traditional settlements have retained their Min-Yueh style and Min-Nan style architectural features. In terms of natural landscape, the Yuanshan Huanhu Park is a local recreational destination, where you can ride and stroll among the lakes and mountains, and there are also ecological attractions such as the Pillow Mountain Leisure Farm, which serves as both an agricultural experience and a nature education. As an important township in Yilan County, Yuanshan combines idyllic scenery with cultural heritage, making it an ideal place to experience rural life in eastern Taiwan.
