Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Tongxiao Township is located in the southwest of Miaoli County, Taiwan, China, bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, and is a typical coastal town. It has an area of about 107.8 square kilometers and a population of about 35,000 people. The old name of the town was "Tunxiao", which originated from the phonetic translation of the Pingpu aborigines, and was later renamed to its present name in 1920.
Tunxiao has a wealth of natural landscape resources, including the Tunxiao Coastal Recreation Park, the Tunxiao Beach and Qiu Mao Yuan and other well-known attractions. Hutou Mountain Park is only 93 meters above sea level, but it is the site of an important military monument on the west coast of Taiwan, with the remains of a fort built during the Japanese colonial period and a viewing platform overlooking the Taiwan Strait.
The local economy is based on agriculture, fishing and tourism, with crops such as watermelons and peanuts in abundance. The Tongxiao Power Plant is an important power facility in Taiwan, and has developed into a green energy demonstration base in recent years. The annual Watermelon Festival and A-Ma Cultural Festival are important folkloric events in the area, attracting many tourists.
