Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Šilheřovice is a quiet village in the Moravian-Silesian region of the Czech Republic, located in the northeastern part of the country in the border region with Poland. It belongs to the historic region of Českén Silesia, about 15 kilometers from the city of Ostrava, and is known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Sirovice has a deep aristocratic history, with its landmark Sirovice Castle, built in the 19th century in a blend of neo-classical and romantic styles, surrounded by extensive English parkland. The village retains its traditional Silesian timber-framed dwellings, as well as the locally distinctive St. Martin's Church, reflecting the cultural mix of Central Europe.
The region is surrounded by forests and meadows and is crossed by the Opava River, which is suitable for hiking and cycling. The Sirovice Golf Course is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic and attracts many enthusiasts. Visitors can also explore the nearby ruins of the World War II fortification "Little Berlin" or experience cross-border culture in the Polish town of Česin, just across the border.
