Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Shangsi County is located in the southern part of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, belonging to Fangchenggang City, and is situated at the northern foot of the Hundred Thousand Mountains, making it a typical mountainous county. It is dominated by Zhuang culture and is a multi-ethnic settlement with rich natural landscapes and human heritage.
Shangsi is famous for the 100,000 Dashan National Forest Park, with a forest coverage of over 60%, making it an eco-tourism and summer vacation destination. The main attractions include Butuan Hot Spring, Magic Stone Valley and Fengting River Reservoir, which are suitable for hiking, hot spring treatment and folklore experience.
The economy is mainly based on agriculture, producing sugar cane, star anise, cinnamon and other specialties. Traditional activities such as the "March 3" Song Festival of the Zhuang people are well preserved, and handicrafts such as Zhuang brocade weaving are unique. Eco-agriculture and rural tourism have gradually developed in recent years.
