Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Remich (French: Remich, German: Remich) is a commune and town of the same name in the south-eastern part of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, situated on the banks of the Moselle River, close to the German and French borders, and belonging to the district of Grevenmacher in Luxembourg. The town has an area of about 5.3 square kilometers and a population of about 4,000, and is known as the "Little Pearl of Luxembourg" for its peaceful riverside scenery and wine region.
Located in the Moselle Valley, Rémisch has a mild and sunny climate and is an important center of winegrowing and winemaking in Luxembourg. It is surrounded by hills and has beautiful riverside walks for hiking and biking. The annual wine festival in the fall attracts a large number of visitors to experience the culture of the local wineries and the white Moselle Riesling.
The economy is based on tourism and the wine industry, with restaurants and cellars along the river. The town retains some of its medieval walls and has a mixture of German and French influences in its architecture. Rémisch is also a cross-border transportation hub, with bridges connecting it to Germany, and is close to the cities of Luxembourg City and Metz, combining a quiet rural atmosphere with easy accessibility.
