Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Mesaieed is a major industrial city in southeastern Qatar, located approximately 50 kilometers south of the capital city of Doha and bordering the Persian Gulf. Developed under the auspices of Qatar Energy, the city is the core base of Qatar's oil and gas industry, with a large refinery, LNG export terminal and industrial port.
As one of the pillars of Qatar's economy, Mesaieed has a concentration of energy processing, chemical production and heavy industry facilities, and its port is responsible for most of the country's energy exports. The city adheres to strict environmental and safety standards, and in recent years has promoted industrial diversification with the development of residential neighborhoods and public services.
Mesaíd has a tropical desert climate with a coastal location that moderates the extreme heat. The city was designed to be functional and livable, providing community support for industrial employees, and although not a tourist destination, the natural beauty of the neighboring desert and coast attracts some adventure enthusiasts.
