Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda, is located on the northern shore of Lake Victoria in the south-central part of the country and is an important transportation hub and economic center of East Africa. With a pleasant climate and a population of more than 3 million, this highland city at an altitude of about 1,200 meters above sea level is a blend of tradition and modernity - from historical landmarks such as the Uganda National Mosque and St. Paul's Cathedral, to bustling business districts and fast-growing industrial parks. As one of the core cities of the East African Community, Kampala's economy is based on agro-processing, manufacturing and services, with a vibrant fishing and tourism industry based on the Lake Victoria location. Its multicultural atmosphere and easy access to Entebbe International Airport make it a gateway city for exploring Uganda and the East African region.
