Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Located in the Trenčín region of western Slovakia, Mount Hradisko is a historic hill in the Carpathian Mountains at an altitude of about 430 meters. It is situated next to the Váh River, about 120 kilometers from the capital Bratislava, and is famous for the ruins of Hradisko Castle at the top of the hill.
Built in the 13th century, Hradisko Castle was once an important border fortress for the Kingdom of Hungary and witnessed military conflicts and power changes in medieval Europe. The castle was destroyed by war in the 18th century, but the remains of the castle are still a glimpse of the Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. Today, it is a national cultural monument of Slovakia and attracts history buffs.
The hill is surrounded by thick forests and hiking trails, and its summit offers a panoramic view of the Vách Valley. Every summer, medieval-themed festivals are held in the area, where visitors can participate in bow and arrow shooting, traditional crafts and more. The neighboring spa town of Pièsgiani offers a complete range of tourist services.
As part of the Slovak "Castle Route", the Hradisko Hills are a typical example of castle architecture in Central Europe. It can be reached by train from Bratislava or Žilina to Hróhovec station, which is about a 30-minute walk away, making it suitable for day trips or cultural excursions.
