Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Leribe is an important city in the Kingdom of Lesotho, located in the northern part of the country in the region of the Maluti Mountains, at an altitude of about 1,600 meters above sea level. As the capital of the Leribe District, the city is about 80 kilometers from the capital city of Maseru and is one of the oldest towns in Lesotho with a rich historical and cultural heritage.
Leribe was founded by French missionaries in 1859, initially as a mission station. The city retains many of its colonial buildings, including St. Michael's Cathedral, built in 1892. Today, Léribé is a regional trade and administrative center with infrastructure such as hospitals, schools and markets. It has a population of about 30,000 people, with agriculture and livestock farming as the mainstay of the economy.
Léribé is located in a highland basin surrounded by a magnificent mountain landscape. The climate is temperate continental, with warm, rainy summers and dry, cool winters. The area is known for its fertile soil and suitable environment for farming, and is an important maize, wheat and bean producing area in Lesotho.
