Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Located in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, China, Gongchangling is an important mining and industrial town in the northeast region. Its name comes from the fact that the mountains in the area are shaped like a bow and are rich in iron ore resources, making it known as the "Steel Granary". The area covers 334 square kilometers, with a population of about 100,000, and has a temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons.
The Gongchangling Iron Mine is one of the most important iron ore bases in China, and Shougang and Anshan Iron and Steel have mining sites here. In recent years, the tourism industry has been actively developed, with unique natural landscapes such as the Tanghe Hot Spring Resort and the Cold and Hotland Park, and winter skiing programs attracting many tourists. Agriculture is dominated by corn and soybean cultivation, forming a development pattern that emphasizes both industry, mining and ecology.
As the sub-center of Liaoyang, Gongchangling is 100 kilometers away from Shenyang Taoxian Airport, and the Shenda Expressway runs through the whole area. The local area retains the traditions of Manchu culture and organizes annual folklore festivals. Comrade Lei Feng once worked and lived here, and a Lei Feng Memorial Hall was built as a red education base.
