Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Bishkek, the capital and political, economic and cultural center of Kyrgyzstan, is located in the northern part of the country in the Chu River Valley at the northern foot of the Tien Shan Mountains, and has been an important node city of the ancient Silk Road since ancient times. The city was once part of the Soviet Union and was originally called Volodymyr, but regained its current name after Kyrgyzstan's independence in 1991. As a multi-ethnic settlement, the city has a blend of Kyrgyz, Russian and Uzbek cultures. The traditional handicrafts in the Osh Bazaar, the historical relics in the National Museum, and the architectural features of Orthodox churches and mosques are all manifestations of its multicultural charm. The economy is dominated by light industry and food processing, and tourism has developed rapidly in recent years, relying on the neighboring Issyk-Kul Lake and other tourist resources. With its pleasant climate, lush parks and open and tolerant atmosphere, Bishkek has become one of the unique cities in Central Asia.
