Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
Located on the southeastern coast of Cyprus, Alona is a famous seaside resort in the Famagusta district. Situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, with its long stretches of golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, the town attracts tourists from all over the world with its tranquil and beautiful natural environment.
Alona Beach is the most recognizable landmark in the area, with its fine sand and gentle seabed making it ideal for families. It is surrounded by dense palm and olive groves, and has a typical Mediterranean atmosphere with its blue coastline. The climate is mild in winter and sunny in summer, making it ideal for year-round tourism.
Along the beach, the town has well-established resort hotels, restaurants and water sports centers, where visitors can experience sailing, diving and other marine activities. The pedestrianized streets are filled with traditional handicraft stores and cafes, and the evenings offer a laid-back coastal nightlife. The neighboring fishing port of Ayia Napa and the Cape Greco Nature Reserve add variety to the itinerary.
Alona retains its traditional Cypriot village character while being conveniently located only about 40 minutes from Larnaca International Airport. It is both a popular sunny getaway for European tourists and an ideal stopover for exploring Cyprus' historical sites such as the ancient city of Salamis.
