Rogatica is a town in the eastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), part of the entity of Republika Srpska, located in the Drina River valley about 60 kilometers east of Sarajevo. The town is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains, at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level, and has a temperate continental climate with cold and snowy winters and mild, wet summers.
Rogatica has a long history, first documented in the 14th century, and developed as a trading hub during the Ottoman period. The city retains its 16th-century Ottoman bridges, mosques and traditional stone buildings, and is characterized by a combination of Balkan and Eastern cultures. The city was severely damaged during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1995), but was gradually rebuilt after the war, and today the mainstay of the economy is forestry, animal husbandry and small-scale industry.
Rogatica is surrounded by magnificent natural beauty and is close to the Sutjeska National Park (one of the last virgin forests in Europe) and the famous Drina River Gorge. Visitors can explore war memorial sites, hike mountain trails, or experience the folk culture of traditional villages. The town has a population of about 11,000 (2013 data) and is connected to Sarajevo's border with Serbia by the M5 highway, making it an important stopover for exploring the nature and history of eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Located in the southeastern part of China's Shanxi Province, Zezhou County is part of Jincheng City and is situated at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains, making it an important energy and industrial base in Shanxi Province. The county has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization, with national cultural relics protection units such as Yuhuang Temple and Qinglian Temple. Zizhou is rich in coal resources, and agriculture is dominated by wheat and corn, with specialties such as Zizhou yellow millet. The local folk culture is unique, and it is an important circulation place of Shangdang Bang Opera.
There are ancient architectural complexes from the Song and Jin dynasties preserved in Zezhou County, among which the colorful sculptures of the twenty-eight constellations at the Yuhuang Temple in Fucheng City are regarded as "the only ones in the world". The ancient temple fair on March 28 of the lunar calendar attracts tens of thousands of tourists every year. Mount Jue Scenic Area is known as the "First Show of Taihang", combining natural scenery and Taoist culture. The local traditional ironware making skill is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
As an important part of Jincheng City's "one-coal" economic pattern, Zizhou County is promoting the transformation and upgrading of the coal industry and vigorously developing new energy and equipment manufacturing. With the Taijiao High Speed Railway passing through the county, ZEZHOU County has obvious advantages in transportation location. In recent years, the foundry industrial park has become an important equipment manufacturing base in North China.
