At an altitude of about 2,600 meters above sea level, the city enjoys a pleasant climate and is an important holy place for the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, attracting a large number of believers and tourists every year. Its unique architectural skills and deep religious culture make it one of the most historically valuable cities in Africa.
