It is not only a transportation hub, but also a starting point for exploring southwestern Iceland, surrounded by natural wonders such as the famous Blue Lagoon hot springs and the black sand beaches and geysers of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Despite its small population, the town retains Iceland's unique fishing culture, with seafood restaurants and craft stores with a local flavor, making it an ideal stopover for a taste of Iceland's untouched charm.
