Located in the northern part of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Province of China, Qishan is a famous historical, cultural and agricultural town. The area is famous for its banana industry, known as the "Kingdom of Bananas", and the bananas produced in the area are of high quality and abundant. Qishan Old Street retains the baroque architectural style of the Japanese colonial period and incorporates traditional elements of southern Fujian, forming a unique cultural landscape. Important landmarks include the Qishan Railway Station (formerly the Sugar Railway Station), which was built in 1915, and the Gothic-style Qishan Catholic Church. The annual Banana Cultural Festival and special banana food (such as banana cake and banana ice) attract a large number of tourists. The Chishang Mountain area is also rich in natural landscapes, such as Meinong Lake and the surrounding hilly terrain, making it an important tourist and agricultural demonstration area in Southern Taiwan.
