Geminis is an important city in northwestern Libya, administratively part of the Nugat al-Haims Governorate. It is located about 120 kilometers south of the capital city of Tripoli, in the agricultural heartland of the Jefara Plain, and is an important transportation hub connecting the coastal region with the desert interior.
Geminis has a long history, having been an important settlement during the Roman period, and is surrounded by historical monuments such as ancient cisterns. The modern economy is based on agriculture, with olives, grains and fruits, as well as commerce and logistics, based on the coastal highway that runs through the city. In recent years, the area has also begun to explore the potential of oil resources.
The city is located in a semi-arid region with a dry, hot climate and mild winters. The population is predominantly Arab and retains a traditional tribal social structure. As a regional center, Geminis provides basic education and healthcare services, but its infrastructure is relatively underdeveloped due to the political situation in Libya.
