Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, is located in the lower reaches of the Daedong River in the west and is the political, economic and cultural center of the country. As an ancient city with a history of 1,000 years, once the capital of the Goryeo Dynasty and rebuilt through wars in modern times, the city is known for its neat and tidy planning and Juche architectural style. Landmarks include the Juche Tower, the Triumphal Arch, and the Great Monument of Mansudae, highlighting the national ideology. Pyongyang, with its high green coverage, is known as a "city in a park", and has well-developed education and art businesses, with cultural institutions such as the Pyongyang Film Studio and the Mansudae Art Theater, which are important windows for the DPRK's external presentation.
Located in the northwestern part of Xing'an League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, Aershan is a border tourist city famous for its forest ecology and volcanic landscape. As an important ecological barrier in Inner Mongolia, it is known as the "Switzerland of the East" for its pristine forests, volcanic relics, mineral springs and snow and ice resources, as well as its distinctive landscapes in all four seasons.
The whole area of Aershan is covered with forests of the Daxingan Mountains, and there are volcanic geological wonders such as Tianchi, Shitanglin, and Azalea Lake, as well as world-class mineral springs and therapeutic resources. The snowy period in winter lasts up to 7 months, and there are professional ski resorts. As a multi-ethnic area inhabited by Mongolians, Han Chinese and other ethnic groups, the local area retains a unique forest culture and border flavor, and the Sino-Mongolian port of Arshan-Songbelt further enriches the cross-border tourism experience.
Aershan is conveniently located with a civil airport and railroad station, and a road network connecting popular destinations such as Hulunbeier and Xilingol. Core attractions include the Aershan National Forest Park, the White Wolf Peak Scenic Area and the Wonders of the Frozen River, which are suitable for year-round ecological sightseeing, hot springs recreation and ice and snow sports, making it an important ecotourism demonstration area in northern China.
