Pulea is the downtown core of Apia, the capital of Samoa, located on the north coast of Upolu Island. As the political, economic and cultural center of the country, Pulea has a concentration of government institutions, commercial facilities and historical landmarks.
Located in the tropical South Pacific, Pulea has a tropical rainforest climate with an average annual temperature of approximately 26°C. The city is surrounded by volcanic landscapes with a variety of natural features. Surrounded by volcanic landscapes and coral reefs, it has unique natural features such as black sand beaches and a rainy season from November to April.
The area has preserved 19th century colonial buildings such as the historic Apia Courthouse. Traditional Samoan ceremonies (fa'asamoa) mingle with modern lifestyles, and the Capitol Building on the Mulinuu Peninsula bears witness to the country's independence.
Pulea is home to Samoa's major banks, harbor and marketplace. Famous attractions include the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, the Fish Market and the Catholic Church, which is the gateway to experiencing Samoan weaving, song and dance culture.
