Pingliang City is located in the eastern part of Gansu Province, China, at the crossroads of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia provinces, and is an important regional center city in east Gansu. As an important node of the ancient Silk Road, Pingliang has a profound historical and cultural heritage, and is famous for its sacred Taoist site, Kongdong Mountain, which is regarded as the "First Mountain of Chinese Taoism".
Pingliang is located in the hinterland of the Loess Plateau, with an altitude of 890-2857 meters above sea level, and has a temperate semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons.
