Pingliang City is located in the eastern part of Gansu Province, China, at the crossroads of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia provinces, and is an important regional center city in east Gansu. As an important node of the ancient Silk Road, Pingliang has a profound historical and cultural heritage, and is famous for its sacred Taoist site, Kongdong Mountain, which is regarded as the "First Mountain of Chinese Taoism".
Pingliang is located in the hinterland of the Loess Plateau, with an altitude of 890-2857 meters above sea level, and has a temperate semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons. The Jing River passes through the city, forming a unique river valley landscape. The average annual temperature is 8.6℃ and the annual precipitation is 450-600 millimeters, which is suitable for the growth of crops, and is an important grain production base in Gansu.
Pingliang has famous scenic spots such as the 5A level tourist attraction of Kongdong Mountain, Wangmu Palace and Longquan Temple. Kongdong martial arts is one of the three major cultural cards in Gansu, along with Dunhuang medicine and Tianshui Fuxi culture. Local specialties include Pingliang Mutton Bun and Jingning Roasted Chicken, etc. The Kongdong Cultural and Tourism Festival held every year attracts a large number of tourists from home and abroad.
Based on coal resources, Pingliang has formed pillar industries such as energy and chemical industry, equipment manufacturing and agricultural products processing. In recent years, it has been actively developing new industries such as cultural tourism and modern logistics. Baozhong Railway, Qinglan Expressway and other major transportation routes run through the whole territory, the location advantage is obvious, is accelerating the construction of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia combined regional center city.
