Pendleton is a historic town in Anderson County, South Carolina, United States, located in the northwestern part of the state, about 30 miles from the city of Greenville. The town is known for its well-preserved 19th century architecture and deep cultural heritage.
Founded in 1790, Pendleton is one of the oldest towns in South Carolina. The town center is home to more than 50 historic buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Pendleton Borough Historical Museum, built in 1826. The town is also known for the Pendleton Farmstead National Historic Landmark, which showcases a unique look at an early farming community.
Each spring, Pendleton hosts the famous Pendleton Spring Festival, which attracts a large number of visitors who come to experience traditional crafts, music and food. Yongzhou, located in the south of Hunan Province at the confluence of the Xiaoshui and Xiangjiang Rivers, was known as Zuling in ancient times, and is the frontier city of Hunan docking into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It has a long history and is the burial place of Emperor Shun. Liu Zongyuan was banished here and wrote "Eight Memoirs of Yongzhou", which laid down its profound cultural heritage. It is also famous for its natural scenery, such as the Shun Emperor's Mausoleum in Jiuyi Mountain, Yangmingshan National Forest Park, and Wujiang River Monumental Forest, among which Jiuyi Mountain is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization because of the allusion to the story of "Shun's southward hunting expedition, which collapsed in the field of Cangwu". Yongzhou is also famous for its specialties, and masterpieces of Hunan cuisine, such as Yongzhou blood duck and Dong'an chicken, are renowned throughout the country. This ancient city, which combines a thousand years of cultural lineage and green water, is attracting visitors from all over the world with its unique charm of "beautiful ecology, deep culture and excellent location".
