Yanchuan County is located in the north of Shaanxi Province, northeast of Yan'an City, on the west bank of the Yellow River, in the hinterland of the Loess Plateau, and is one of the important birthplaces of northern Shaanxi culture. The landscape of the Yellow River here is magnificent, and Qiankun Bay is known as "the first bay of the Yellow River in the world" with its "S"-shaped big turn, which shows the ingenious work of nature. Yanchuan has a rich cultural heritage and is a hometown of folk art, with unique non-heritage cultures such as paper-cutting, cloth pile painting and folk songs, among which Yanchuan paper-cutting has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. The famous contemporary writer Lu Yao was born here, and his work "The Ordinary World" deeply reflects the humanistic spirit of this land. Yanchuan combines the natural scenery of the Yellow River with the folk culture of the Yellow Earth, making it a unique destination to experience the flavor of northern Shaanxi.
