Pendleton is a historic town in Anderson County, South Carolina, United States, located in the northwestern part of the state, about 30 miles from the city of Greenville. The town is known for its well-preserved 19th century architecture and deep cultural heritage.
Founded in 1790, Pendleton is one of the oldest towns in South Carolina. The town center is home to more than 50 historic buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Pendleton Borough Historical Museum, built in 1826. The town is also known for the Pendleton Farmstead National Historic Landmark, which showcases a unique look at an early farming community.
Each spring, Pendleton hosts the famous Pendleton Spring Festival, which attracts a large number of visitors who come to experience traditional crafts, music and food. The town is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and is close to the Savannah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts to hike and fish.
Pendleton's economy is dominated by tourism and small businesses, while its proximity to Clemson University benefits from the radiation of educational resources. Its tranquil atmosphere and rich historical heritage make it a highly sought-after residential and tourist destination in the Upcountry region of South Carolina.
Menyuan Hui Autonomous County is located in the northeastern part of China's Qinghai Province, belonging to Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and is situated in the eastern part of the Qilian Mountains, with an average altitude of about 3,000 meters. It is a transition zone between the Tibetan Plateau and the Loess Plateau, and is famous for its magnificent natural scenery and diverse cultures.
Menyuan has the world's largest small rapeseed planting area, and in July every year, 10,000 acres of rapeseed flowers form the "Golden Menyuan" spectacle, which is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot. There are ecological reserves such as Ganshika Snow Peak (5,254 meters above sea level) and Xianmi National Forest Park, which are important habitats for plants and animals in the plateau.
As a multi-ethnic settlement area, Menyuan is dominated by Hui people (about 40% of the total population), preserving rich Islamic culture and traditional folklore. The economy is dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry, with rapeseed and barley cultivation and yak breeding as the pillar industries, and ecotourism has been developing rapidly in recent years.
It is about 150 kilometers away from Xining Airport, with Ningwu Expressway and Qinghai-Tibet Railway running through the whole territory. The best travel period is from June to August, and it is recommended to experience rape flower sea sightseeing, plateau hiking and folk culture activities, and pay attention to make preparations for plateau acclimatization.
