Lankao County is located in the northeastern part of China's Henan Province, part of Kaifeng City, at the junction of Henan and Shandong provinces and at the last bend of the Yellow River. It has a total area of 1116 square kilometers and a population of about 850,000 people. As the birthplace of Jiao Yulu's spirit, Lankao is known nationwide as a model of sand control and disaster prevention and poverty alleviation.
Lankao has a long history and is the ancient name of the county established in Qin Dynasty. The sandy wasteland formed due to the flooding of the Yellow River once plagued the local area for a long time. After Jiao Yulu led the masses to plant paulownia trees to control the situation, it has now become a nationally renowned paulownia tree plate and ethnic musical instrument production base. Geographically, the area has a temperate monsoon climate, and agriculture is dominated by wheat, corn and peanuts.
In recent years, Lankao has vigorously developed green energy and furniture manufacturing industries, and has been approved as a national-level circular economy demonstration zone. The annual production and sales volume of ethnic musical instruments in Xuba Village accounts for 30% of the country, and it is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Ethnic Musical Instruments". The Zhengxu high-speed railway station has made Lankao integrated into the 1-hour economic circle of Zhengzhou, and the location advantage has been significantly enhanced.
