Pendleton is a historic town in Anderson County, South Carolina, United States, located in the northwestern part of the state, about 30 miles from the city of Greenville. The town is known for its well-preserved 19th century architecture and deep cultural heritage.
Founded in 1790, Pendleton is one of the oldest towns in South Carolina. The town center is home to more than 50 historic buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Pendleton Borough Historical Museum, built in 1826. The town is also known for the Pendleton Farmstead National Historic Landmark, which showcases a unique look at an early farming community.
Each spring, Pendleton hosts the famous Pendleton Spring Festival, which attracts a large number of visitors who come to experience traditional crafts, music and food. The town is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and is close to the Savannah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts to hike and fish.
Pendleton's economy is dominated by tourism and small businesses, while its proximity to Clemson University benefits from the radiation of educational resources. Kolwezi, an important city in the Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is located in the southeastern part of the country in the heart of the Copperbelt, adjacent to the Zambian border, and is one of Africa's renowned mining centers. As a key node in the global copper and cobalt mining industry, the surrounding area is rich in high-grade copper and cobalt deposits, attracting a number of international mining companies, and the economy is highly dependent on the mining and processing of minerals, known as "Copper City". The city is about 1,500 meters above sea level and has a cool climate, with an average annual temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius, characterized by a tropical grassland climate. With a population of about 500,000, the city is a multi-ethnic settlement with French and Kiba as the main languages and a strong mining culture, but the infrastructure is still under development. Kolwezi is not only the economic pillar city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but also an important hub connecting the resource corridors of southern Africa, which is strategically important to the global supply chain.
