Peabody, located in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States, is a major city on the North Shore of the Boston metropolitan area. The city covers an area of approximately 16.9 square miles and has a population of approximately 53,000, and is known for its diverse neighborhoods and rich historical heritage.
Originally known for its leather manufacturing industry, Peabody was one of the largest leather production centers in the world in the 19th century and was known as the "Leather Capital of the World".
