Papeete is the capital and largest city of French Polynesia, located on the northwest coast of Tahiti in the Society Islands of the South Pacific. As the political, economic and cultural center of the overseas territory, Papeete has a population of approximately 26,000 and blends Polynesian traditions with French colonial flair.
