Panaca (Pahrump) is an unincorporated town in Nye County, Nevada, United States, located about 60 miles northwest of Las Vegas, near the California border. The area is known for its expansive desert landscape, mild climate, and relatively low cost of living. Panaca's economy is based on agriculture, tourism, and retirement communities, and the area is known for its vineyards and wine production, as well as several golf courses and recreational areas. The population is approximately 40,000 and has grown in recent years due to the expansion of the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Conveniently connected to major cities via interstate highways, it is a common stopover on the way to Death Valley National Park.
