The 5.6-mile-long island is known for its serene atmosphere and pristine beaches, with wooden cabins dating back to the late 1800s and low-country architecture set against dense pine forests and brackish wetlands. In addition to its natural beauty, Pamplico is surrounded by Brookgreen Gardens (one of the largest sculpture parks in the U.S.) and the historic neighborhoods of Old Town Georgetown, which are also worth exploring. Away from the hustle and bustle, this area is a "hidden gem" in South Carolina for travelers looking for a relaxing, slow-paced coastal experience.
